Teaching
Beth has always been passionate about teaching, and especially loves sharing her enthusiasm for music and the recorder with others. She is experienced in teaching music in one-to-one, small group, and classroom settings.
Beth values the many benefits that playing an instrument offers an individual besides developing their musical abilities. She tailors her approach to teaching according to each student’s own needs and interests, whether that be through progression of grades or simply playing for fun, in a way that makes playing an instrument an engaging and personal experience unique to each student. Her lessons draw together aspects of recorder technique, musicality, aural awareness, and music theory in a positive and enjoyable manner for both student and teacher and encourages her students to explore all styles of music besides those typically associated with the recorder. Beth is a strong believer that every person, no matter their age, should have the opportunity to discover music.

Having experience in ABRSM practical and theory examinations herself, Beth understands all too well the formal examination process from the perspective of the student, and therefore provides a supportive and encouraging approach to exam preparation. As is a member of the European Recorder Teachers’ Association, Beth benefits from the many services that the organisation offers, ensuring her teaching is consistently at a high level.
Beth currently offers online recorder lessons to pupils of all ages from beginner to Grade 8+, through platforms such as Zoom and Skype.
